Informational Billiards Tips

Pick the cue that's right for you

The Cue you use only has to work for you,  Don`t worry about someone else liking it.
You`re the only one that has to be able to adjust to how your cue plays, and they all play different. Find one with the weight, balance, shaft diameter, and look you like
Try to shoot a few balls with many different types of cues. Some have stainless steel joints with brass inserts in the shaft . While others are wood to wood. Some have ivory joints.
It all comes down to what feels good to you.

Cue Care

When bringing your cue from the cold into a warm room-put it together, but don't tighten it. Warm up the area around the butt and the ferrule joints with your hands. Tighten the joints when they have reached room temperature. When you're not using your cue, put it in a protective case.

Taking care of your Cue

Cue Shaft

No matter how hard you try to protect your cue, it will probably acquire
some nicks and scratches. For minor nicks and scratches,
try polishing the shaft using 000 steel wool.
Finish polishing using a piece of brown paper bag or a dollar bill.
Rub hard and rapidly until the shaft is smooth.. To maintain a smooth shaft
surface, you can periodically polish the shaft with a very fine
(1,500-4,000 grit) emery cloth, .Follow the same procedure as above.
The butt section of your cue is virtually maintenance-free.
An occasional cleaning and polishing with a soft cloth a quality furniture
or cue polish will make it look better
